I met a really great guy a few weeks ago. We hit it off, and after a few drinks we were really comfortable around each other.

He’s friends with, my best friend’s boy friend, and we all stayed at his house for the weekend, since we all came from out of town. We went out, had a blast, and then the morning after, we all went out for breakfast … silence, stares and smiles between me and him.

Before I left, I failed to get his number, and he failed to ask for mine, so I was going to let it go, but … I’m single, it’s summer, and he’s cute, so a couple days later I found him on Facebook. We started to msg back and forth, a few days in a row, and then we exchanged numbers.

We’ve been texting consistently for two weeks now, and it’s been great, a lot of interest shown on both ends, so I suggested we have a phone conversation, of course at the time, I’m thinking, there is no way he’s going to call me. He said he would, but he wont follow through. Next evening, sure enough, he called and I didn’t know what to do, or what to say, or how to act.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

I finally answered my phone after running around my apartment, looking for a comfortable spot to sit in. Of course during that time, I didn’t think about running out of breath, which … I did. Like a fool.

The point is. It was awkward. Are first phone conversations awkward? I just hope he was feeling it too. All though we hmmm’d and haaaaaaa’d a lot, my favorite word is apparently “cool” and his is “yeah” we sounded like surfers. It ended on good terms though, we made plans for the weekend coming up, in an awkward, first phone conversation kind of way.

I’ll let you know how the first date goes. Hopefully, at that point, we’ll have all the awkwardness out of the way!

Don’t let the awkward moments keep you from doing you boo!
